RF Microneedling

What Is RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling is a minimally invasive anti-ageing treatment to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, and sagging skin. It uses use specially insulated needles that deliver high-intensity radio frequency energy to deliver a controlled trauma to the skin. The trauma caused by the treatment helps the derma regenerate as the skin starts producing new collagen and growth factors. For areas that need some extra attention, the needles can penetrate a little deeper. This helps treat skin problems such as fine lines and wrinkles, skin pigmentation, scarring, and loose skin.

What Areas Can RF Microneedling Treat?

Most people consider RF microneedling for their face. This is because the face is prone to ageing signs such as wrinkles and loose skin over time. So, the whole face can enjoy some great benefits from this type of treatment. Enlarged pores can be tightened, wrinkles can be reduced and improved, and surface acne scarring can be refined. But the face is not the only one that benefits from microneedling. Areas such as the hands and neck can also get this treatment. Crepey skin on the hands and neck can be an issue, but RF microneedling will solve it by smoothening it. Skincare absorption can be increased as well. Furthermore, people can also use the treatment on their bodies if they have stretch marks and want to soften them.

What Are the Benefits of RF Microneedling?

The greatest benefit is the fact that the procedure can help reduce visible ageing signs on the face, neck, and hands while having the power to address issues such as scarring and lax skin on other body areas. RF microneedling typically has a shorter recovery time compared to the lasers or chemical peels that are also used to help resurface the skin and improve its texture. What is great is that the effects of the procedure can last for up to 2 years and may only require a few treatments.

What Are the Side Effects of RF Microneedling?

There are a few temporary side effects to be aware of with RF microneedling. The procedure causes short-term swelling, redness, and skin flaking, which can last for a few days. Most people can return to wearing regular makeup within a day of treatment. Skin will be more sun-sensitive after treatment, so sunscreen is also advised.   It should be noted, microneedling may worsen active breakouts, so people with active inflammatory acne or oral herpes should not be treated with microneedling until the lesions have cleared.

FAQs

How often and how many sessions will I need?

Results can be seen after 1 session, but we recommend 2-4 treatments every 4 weeks initially to get the best results. Scars and Stretch Marks will require more sessions, a minimum of 6 treatments.

Microneedling and RF microneedling – which one is better?

Both microneedling and RF microneedling are amazing, and you can expect great results from both. However, when you combine the procedure with radiofrequency, the results you see will be much better – that’s why RF microneedling is often preferred.

Is the procedure painful?

Prior to radiofrequency microneedling, the doctor will numb your skin to reduce any potential discomfort or pain associated with the procedure. Because the needle perforations made in the skin are so tiny, there should not be lasting damage or discomfort. However, you may have some redness and swelling, and you will need to avoid certain skincare products for the next week after treatment.

What should not be done after RF microneedling?

void washing your face with anything other than lukewarm water and gentle cleanser for 48 to 72 hours after the procedure. Avoid using makeup for at least 48 to 72 hours after the procedure. When you do apply makeup, only use clean makeup brushes. Avoid direct sunlight for 48 to 72 hours after the procedure

When will results become visible?

You will start seeing results in two weeks after the procedure. Of course, the skin will still heal during the next months, so the condition of the skin will improve even more for up to 6-9 months.
