Endolift journal · Recovery · 4 min readPlanning Endolift before a wedding or big event

If you want Endolift before a wedding or big event, aim to have it at least 3 months beforehand, and ideally around 6 months. Swelling and bruising usually settle within days to a few weeks, but collagen remodelling takes up to 6 months. Treating too close to the date risks visible bruising and an unfinished result.

Why timing matters

A wedding, a milestone birthday or an important work event has a fixed date. Endolift results do not. They build gradually, and the early days often look worse before they look better. Planning around those 2 facts is the key to being pleased with how you look on the day.

There are 2 timelines to think about. The first is recovery: the swelling, bruising and tenderness that follow treatment. The second is the result: the tightening that continues as collagen remodels over around 6 months. You want the first to be completely behind you and the second to be well on its way by the time the photographer arrives.

How long the visible recovery lasts

Endolift is minimally invasive, with no incisions or stitches, but it is still a procedure. Expected effects include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, temporary numbness and temporary firmness or small lumps where fat was treated. Most settle within days. Numbness and firmness can take 1 to 2 weeks or longer. A compression strap is usually worn for 3 to 4 days if the neck has been treated. Most people return to work the next day or within 48 hours, but that is not the same as being camera ready.

Bruising in particular is unpredictable. Some people have almost none. Others have marks that take a couple of weeks to fade fully. Our article on which side effects are normal and which are not describes the usual pattern.

A planning timeline

Time before the eventWhat to expectOur view
6 months or moreRecovery long finished; collagen remodelling largely completeIdeal
3 to 6 monthsRecovery finished; result visible and still improvingA good window
6 to 12 weeksSwelling usually settled; result early and still developingPossible, but less margin for error
Under 6 weeksRisk of residual swelling, firmness or bruising; result unfinishedNot advised

The 3 month point is a sensible minimum for most people. It leaves time for recovery, for any unexpected side effect to settle, and for the result to have started showing. Around 6 months gives you the fuller result and a comfortable buffer.

Working backwards from your date

At TK Medispa, the process takes a little time before treatment itself, which is worth building in.

  1. Send 3 photos for Dr Seth to assess suitability.
  2. Have a free video consultation to agree a plan and a fixed price.
  3. Treatment is usually booked 5 to 7 days after the consultation, with written information and the consent form sent beforehand to read at home.
  4. On the day, an in person consultation comes first, and consent is signed then.
  5. Results build over 3 to 6 months, with a review and after photos.

If, after the video consultation, you decide Endolift is not for you, there is no obligation to go ahead. And if you change your mind on the treatment day itself, after the in person consultation, the fee is refunded in full. That matters before a big event, because you should never feel committed to something while you are under pressure.

So if your event is 6 months away, there is time to go through these steps calmly, without rushing a decision. You can see the full process on the patient journey page.

Other things to plan around

A few practical points help avoid stress close to the date.

  • Other treatments: if you are planning fillers, threads or other procedures in the same area, discuss the order with your doctor. Recent fillers or threads in the area need discussion before Endolift.
  • Trial make up and dress fittings: try to keep these clear of the first 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Travel and honeymoon: avoid long haul flights and strong sun soon after treatment, and protect the skin from the sun afterwards.
  • Weight changes: many people lose weight before a wedding. Endolift results last longest when weight is stable, so it can make sense to reach your goal first.
  • Your own wellbeing: a big event is already a busy time. Do not let a treatment add pressure. If the timing feels tight, it is fine to wait.

Skincare in the weeks afterwards also matters. Our guide to skincare after Endolift explains what to use and when.

Dr Seth's view "If someone tells me their wedding is in 4 weeks, I will usually suggest they wait until afterwards. Most people would be fine, but I cannot promise there will be no bruise or swelling, and that is the last thing anyone wants in their photos. Planning 3 to 6 months ahead is far more relaxed, for the patient and for me."

What if the event is closer than you would like

If your event is only a few weeks away, the honest advice is usually to wait and have Endolift afterwards. A treatment done in a hurry carries the risk of visible recovery on the day and a result that has not yet developed. There is no shame in deciding the timing is not right. The recovery and aftercare page gives more detail on what the first weeks involve, which may help you decide.

Questions people also ask

What is the latest I can have Endolift before a wedding?

For most people, 3 months is a sensible minimum. It is sometimes possible closer to the date, but the risk of lingering bruising, swelling or firmness rises, and the collagen result will not have had time to build. Around 6 months is ideal.

Will I be bruised in my wedding photos?

If treatment is done at least 3 months before, bruising will almost always have gone well before the day. Bruising usually fades within days to a couple of weeks, but it varies, so leaving a wide margin is the safest approach.

Can I have Endolift as a groom or for a parent of the bride?

Yes. The same timing advice applies to anyone. Men often ask about the jawline and neck, and the planning timeline is identical. What matters is suitability and leaving enough time before the date.

Can I combine Endolift with other treatments before the event?

Sometimes, but the order and spacing matter, especially with fillers or threads in the same area. Discuss your full plan with the doctor so treatments do not overlap and nothing is still settling close to the date.
