Endolift journal · Guides · 5 min readEndolift results at 8 weeks: what a real patient's photos show

At 8 weeks after Endolift to the lower face and neck, most of the swelling has settled and the change is usually visible: a sharper jawline, softer jowls and a tighter area under the chin. The result is not finished yet, because collagen keeps remodelling for around 6 months. Results vary from person to person.

The case behind this article

This article is built around a real TK Medispa patient. She was photographed on 10 January 2023, before treatment, and again 8 weeks later on 28 February 2023. Dr Rohit Seth treated her lower face and neck with Endolift in a single session under local anaesthetic. We are not sharing her name, her age or any other personal details, and we are not going to describe her photos in a way that makes the change sound bigger than it is. You can see examples of our photos on the before and after page.

What we can do is explain what photos at the 8 week mark generally show, why that point in time is useful, and why it is still not the final picture. That is the information most people want when they search for Endolift results.

What the 8 week photos generally show

When the lower face and neck are treated, the areas people look at first are the jawline, the jowls and the soft tissue under the chin. At 8 weeks, compared with the photo taken before treatment, the typical changes are:

  • A sharper jawline, where the line from chin to ear looks cleaner and less interrupted.
  • Less jowling, so the small pocket of skin and fat beside the chin sits a little higher and looks softer.
  • A tighter area under the chin, with less fullness when the head is held level.
  • Skin that looks slightly firmer and smoother in the treated area.

These are the changes Endolift is designed to produce in someone with mild to moderate laxity and small fat pockets. They are real, but they are usually subtle to moderate rather than dramatic. People often say friends notice they look well or rested rather than different.

Why 8 weeks is a useful moment to look

In the first days after Endolift, the face can look tighter than it really is because of swelling, and it can also look uneven or bruised. Neither tells you much about the result. By 8 weeks, for most people, the swelling has largely gone, any bruising has long settled and the temporary firmness where fat was treated has usually softened.

That means the 8 week photo is often the first fair comparison with the before photo. You are seeing the effect of 2 things together: the immediate contraction of the fibrous septa under the skin, and the early stage of collagen remodelling.

Why the result is not finished at 8 weeks

The 1470 nm laser used in Endolift does more than tighten tissue on the day. It also starts a healing response in which weaker Type III collagen is gradually replaced by stronger Type I collagen. That process takes time, which is why results tend to keep improving for around 6 months. You can read more in our article on what happens to your collagen after Endolift.

Time after treatmentWhat is usually happening
Days 1 to 7Swelling, bruising and tenderness; the face can look puffy or uneven
Weeks 2 to 4Most swelling settled; numbness and firmness easing
Week 8A fair first comparison; jawline and under chin usually look tighter
Months 3 to 6Collagen remodelling continues; results often improve further

So if you are 8 weeks in and you can see a change, that is encouraging, but it is not the end point. If you are 8 weeks in and the change is small, it is worth waiting for the 3 and 6 month review before judging. The recovery diary from day 1 to month 6 explains each stage in more detail.

How to judge your own photos fairly

Photos can exaggerate or hide a result very easily. A slight tilt of the head, a different light or a small change in expression can make a jawline look sharper or softer than it is. To compare honestly, the after photos need to match the before photos as closely as possible.

  1. Use the same room and the same natural light, at a similar time of day.
  2. Keep the camera at the same height and distance.
  3. Hold your head level, with a relaxed face and no smile.
  4. Take front, left and right views each time.
  5. Avoid make up, heavy filters or beauty modes on the phone.

At TK Medispa, the review includes after photos taken in the same light and position as the originals, so the comparison is fair. Our guide on how to take your photos for an Endolift assessment uses the same principles.

What can affect how your results look

No 2 faces respond in exactly the same way. The things that tend to influence the result include the amount of loose skin to start with, skin quality, age, weight stability, sun exposure and smoking. Someone with heavier, hanging skin will usually see less change from Endolift and may be better served by surgery. Endolift also does not restore lost volume, so if the main issue is hollowing rather than laxity, the photos will reflect that.

Dr Seth's view "I like the 8 week photo because it is the first honest look. The swelling has gone, so what you see is real. But I always tell patients not to judge too early. The collagen is still working, and for many people the 6 month photo looks better again. If someone has more loose skin than Endolift can manage, I would rather say so at the assessment than promise something the laser cannot do."

We share real cases because they help people understand what is realistic. They are not a promise. Your own result depends on your anatomy, your skin and how your body heals. Questions people also ask

Is 8 weeks the final Endolift result?

No. By 8 weeks most swelling has settled, so it is a fair first look, but collagen remodelling continues for around 6 months. Many people see further gradual tightening between months 3 and 6, so the final review is usually later.

Why do my results look smaller at 8 weeks than in the first week?

In the first week, swelling can make the area look tighter or fuller than it really is. As that swelling goes, you see the true early result. This is normal and does not mean the treatment has stopped working.

Can I compare my own before and after photos at home?

Yes, as long as the conditions match. Use the same room, natural light, camera height and distance, keep your head level and your face relaxed, and take front, left and right views each time.

Will everyone get the same result as the patient in this case?

No. Results vary with skin quality, the amount of laxity, age, weight stability, sun and smoking. A real case shows what is possible for a suitable patient, not what any individual will get.
